Abstract
The feasibility of friction stir processing to produce a microstructure amenable to high strainrate superplasticity is demonstrated in a commercial Al alloy. Optimum superplasticity was observed in a friction stir processed 7075 Al alloy at a strain rate of 1×10-2/s-1 and 490 °C.
