N2 - Many methods have already been proposed for stereoscopic video coding; however, its transmission problem has not yet been discussed and the codecs are still not suitable for real-time applications. In this paper, approaches for high speed and error resilient designs of stereoscopic video hardware codec are discussed. First, a speed improved joint 3D motion / disparity estimation scheme with good error resilient property is proposed. Then some 3D error concealment schemes are also proposed. An existing unequal error protection method is incorporated for depth map and image estimation residue transmission. The simulation result shows that the proposed method maintains good video quality in the packet loss environment.
