Abstract
The highlights of several related experimental investigations of heat/mass transfer in complex duct flows are described. The flows involve such processes as separation, reattachment, recirculation (i. e. , backflow), and vortex action. These processes are commonly encountered in the passages of actual heat exchange devices. In all of the experiments, detailed local heat/mass transfer data are obtained from which the effects of the complex flow fields are inferred. Average transfer coefficients are also determined.
