Abstract
Important results from several related experimental investigations of heat and mass transfer in complex duct flows are described. The flows involve such processes as separation, reattachment, recirculation (i.e. backflow), and vortex action. These processes are commonly encountered in the passages of actual heat exchange devices. In all of the experimentas, detailed local heat/mass transfer data are obtained from which the effects of the complex flow fields were inferred. Average transfer coefficients were also determined.
