Functional optimization of the jastrow wave function for liquid 4He

Abstract

The Euler-Lagrange equation for the optimum Jastrow trial ground-state wave function for liquid 4He is solved using a Monte Carlo method. The energies calculated at two densities agree with the results of an augmented hypernetted chain approximation.
