Abstract
Simultaneous heat and mass transfer in a rectangular enclosure has been studied using an electrochemical metal deposition system with electrodes maintained at different temperatures. Schlieren flow visualization photographs show interesting transient behavior of the fluid motion in an enclosure for aiding and opposing cases of thermal and solutal buoyancy forces. Explanations of the double diffusive convection flow structure are detailed. Temperature and concentration profile measurements are also included.
