Filter-shape dependence on attenuation mechanism in channelized dynamic spectral equalizers

The influence of the active device choice on the filter shape of each individual wavelength channel was explored. In this study, the Gaussian beam model for the fiber mode was used, channel pitch was set to be 2.75 times the Gaussian waist size on the device plane, and it was assumed that the channels are on a 100 GHz grid. Channel filtering effects were explored for the following three cases: adjacent channels are both transmitting, both attenuating, and one is fully transmitting while the other attenuating. In general, evidence was obtained that the filter shape of channelized dynamic spectral equalizer is dependent on the loss-generating pixelated device.
