Abstract
The functional characteristics of image representations suitable for invariant recognition are derived using a distributed associative memory. The main question is that of finding appropriate transformations so that interactions between the internal structure of the resulting representations and the distributed associative memory yield invariant recognition. The various components of the system are described in detail, and the results from several experiments performed on real data are presented.
