Abstract
Both external and internal hydrogen play similar roles in the degradation of fatigue life or fatigue threshold stress intensities in high-strength steels. This is not so clear for lower-strength steels. In neither case are the mechanisms understood. In this chapter, fatigue is reviewed with respect to the total life approach, threshold approach and fatigue crack growth approach.
