Abstract
The results of some experiments on turbulenoe management using combinations of honeycombs of different lengths and coarse and fine screens, oarried out in highly nonuniform and turbulent flows generated in a 127-mm plexiglas pipe by an upstream blower and diffuser, are presented. The performance of the devices as single manipulators and in combination was evaluated through hot-wire measurements of the mean and rms .values of the longitudinal velocities over the pipe cross section. The results show that relati vely short honeycombs, preceded by a coarse screen and followed by one or more fine screens, oan be used for effective management of highly nonuniform and turbulent flows.
