Abstract
Measurements using a hot wire anemometer have been carried out in a horizontal channel in which two parallel streams of air mix internally. The limit at which one stream is stationary has been considered in the present work. The flowing stream is also at higher temperature and in a stably stratified configuration. The objective in the present work is to study turbulence production due to mixing and the effect of buoyancy on it. One and two-wire measurements have been made. This work provides fundamental information on a class of complex flows which are found in the natural environment and in the cooling of electronic equipment.
