Abstract

The measurement of glomerular volume may be important for the understanding of structural-functional relationships in renal disease. The recent development of computer-linked digitizer tablets and of new estimators of mean particle volume prompted us to explore the relative efficiency of these different methods by investigating the effects of varying sample size and sampling interval on the estimation of mean glomerular volume in renal biopsies from insulin-dependent diabetic patients.
