Abstract

Coupled harmonics indicate presence of nonlinearities. Existing bispectral detectors of phase coupling in additive Gaussian noise are shown to require averaging over independent records, while single records are sufficient for frequency coupling. Novel bispectral and cyclic approaches are also derived for detection and estimation of phase and frequency coupled harmonics observed in stationary additive and multiplicative noise regardless of their distributions.
