Abstract

In the manuscript, we modified the van Genuchten moisture retention model to better fit desorption curves from 0.5- to 1.0-mm aggregate size fraction of a weakly aggregated loessial soil. Soon after publication of the results, an error was found in the computer code used to estimate the parameter n in the modified model. After correcting the curve-fitting program, we re-evaluated the ability of the original van Genuchten model to fit the measured moisture-release data. Although the original model fit the measured data very well, the fit to the data with the modified model was still superior. Thus, the modified model is still preferred for our method of stability analysis.
