Abstract

This paper focuses on the dynamics and control of energy-integrated distillation networks. Typical examples of networks of distillation columns, with significant energy integration, are analyzed with the help of energy flow diagrams. Common patterns (e.g., recycle loops, throughput paths) are identified, which influence the dynamic characteristics of these networks. An example of double effect distillation is considered for detailed dynamic analysis and control. A simulation case study is presented to illustrate the application of the proposed framework.
