Abstract
Background: Individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (iCST) and group Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) are known to improve cognition and quality of life of people with dementia (PwD) and other cognitive impairments. Aim: To analyze the efficacy of iCST and CST among people with dementia. Design: Systematic review. Methods: Articles related to CST for people with Dementia were searched on PubMed. Studies were selected for the analysis based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: A total of 15 studies were included for the analysis. Group CST was found to show more improvements than iCST among PwD. Conclusion: CST improves the quality of life (QoL) of PwD and their carers. Group CST can improve cognition while limited evidence was found that iCST improves cognition. More evidence and studies are needed to see if iCST can improve cognitive function. Group CST was also found to be effective in improving BPSD, NPS and ADL.
