N2 - To determine the effects of extremely low-frequency (ELF) inductively coupled weak magnetic fields on the proliferation of 6B1 hybridoma cells, we adopted 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazolyl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) colorimetry for determination of dehydrogenase production. The result shows that 0.8 mT, 30 Hz (Helmholtz coils) significantly inhibits proliferation on the order of -40%. At lower and higher frequencies, this restriction decreases to zero, or even changes to positive values. This outcome is rather rare for proliferation responses and is discussed with other "electromagentic field windows.".
