Abstract
Average daily gain, feed intake, and gain/feed ratios for early weaned piglets were not statistically different when comparing minimum ventilation rates of 1/2 and 2 cfm/piglet. There also was no piglet 'health' advantage, as measured by pneumonic lung lesions. NH//3 and CO//2 concentrations were from two to five times higher in the below normal ventilation units while dust levels were the same or slightly less.
