Abstract

It has been reported that FePt-fct[001] oriented thin films can be in situ ordered on Cr underlayer/MgO seed layer on a glass substrate by Suzuki et al. (1999). In this work, in situ ordered FePt fct[001] thin films have been successfully synthesized at relatively low temperature on a Cr92Ru8 underlayer on glass without the MgO seed layer and the effects on the introduction of a Pt buffer layer on structural and magnetic properties of the FePt[001] films was studied.
