Abstract

Insulin has dual action on aminoacid transport and protein synthesis. In the early phase of insulin action, aminoacid transport is independent of its incorporation into protein. Suppressed 14C glycine transport after 30 min suggests that in the later phase, acceleration of the transport of this aminoacid is dependent on the synthesis of some protein, perhaps a membrane carrier protein.
