Dongmei Cui studied polymer science and engineering at Dalian University of Technology and received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in 1985 and 1988. She earned her Ph.D. at Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2001), on the synthesis of divalent lanthanide catalysts for the polymerization of biorenewable monomers under the supervision of Prof. Baotong Huang. She worked as an Assistant Professor at Shenyang Pharmaceutical University from 1988 to 1992, moved to Changchun University of Technology, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2002. She was honored with the JSPS fellowship to study lanthanide hydride complexes and their catalysis in organic syntheses and CO copolymerizations with Prof. Zhaomin Hou at RIKEN Japan (2002–2004). She was also a visiting scholar at Hong Kong Baptist University working on fluorescent organometallic polymers with Prof. Raymond Wai-Yeung Wong and most recently a visiting professor at Colorado State University collaborating with Prof. Eugene Y.-X. Chen on catalysis for advanced sustainable polymeric materials. Since 2005, Prof. Cui has been working at Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry as a Talent Professor leading the Organometallic and Precisely Controlled Polymerization Lab. She received The Special Government Allowance of the State Council (2012), Zhu Li Yuehua Excellent Teacher Award (2014), CAS-SABIC fellowship (2016), and The First Prize of Nature Science Award of Jinlin province (2020). Her research interests cover developing novel organometallic catalysts to synthesize advanced polyolefins and elastomers from the commonly used monomers, sustainable polymeric materials from biorenewable molecules, and functional macromolecules via coordination copolymerization of polar and nonpolar monomers. 2
