Abstract
Dystonia is the third most common movement disorder (behind Parkinson disease and essential tremor), it remains one of the more difficult neurological disorders to diagnose. Due to the wide variability of phenotypic expression (since dystonia may involve any voluntary muscle), its dynamic nature, physician unfamiliarity, and the fact the diagnosis remains a purely clinical one, dystonia is frequently misdiagnosed or not recognized. Expert evaluation is often necessary for definitive diagnosis and management.
