Dual scale model of segregation phenomena

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

A dual length scale model of segregation is presented which attempts to couple the micro- and macro-segregation processes more closely. The development of separate macro- and micro-segregation models are first described. The macro and micro models are then coupled to form the dual scale segregation model. Initial results indicate that the choice of microsegregation model affect the macrosegregation results, in particular the level of macrosegregation achieved is proportional to the amount of eutectic formed at the micro scale.
