Abstract

The addition of difluorocarbene (:CF₂) to unsaturated sites in polyisoprene (PI) a model homopolymer substrate was investigated. Three routes were investigated for the :CF₂ modification of a narrow-molecular-weight distribution. Initial experiments using the three system led to partial fluorination of the model PI, but the products were partially crosslinked and the molecular weight distribution of the fluorinated material was not narrow.
