Abstract
A new method for the determination of Sn by graphite furnace atomic absorption specrometry after electrodeposition on a tungsten probe has been developed. It is advantageous for both the preconcentration and the separation of Sn from the matrix. Conditions for the electrodeposition, such as the component of electrolyte, pH of solutions, the deposition potential, the time of electrolysis and the temperature of ashing and atomization, were optimized. The ashing temperature is increased observably. The detection limit for Sn is 0.08 μg/L for a 200s deposition and the relative standard deviation is 5.6%. This method has been applied for the determination of trace tin in canned food. The atomization mechanism of Sn after electrodeposition on tungsten probe has also been discussed.
