Abstract
The rapid development of microoptics and micro-electro-mechanical structures (MEMS) makes it possible to design new types of optical systems that are both space-variant and adaptive. An outline is given of several spectrometer designs that use adaptive space-variance to reduce the total collected data and increase information content.
