Abstract

A new write head design is proposed that replaces a standard coil with a microstrip transmission line, significantly lowering head inductance and DC resistance, and controlling parasitic impedances. The laminated, shortened core of this design greatly reduces switching time. Further, the design has relatively low high-frequency (>400 MHz) power dissipation.
