Abstract
The traditional method for the manufacturing of dental restorations such as crowns, in-lays and on-lays is based on a multi-step investment casting process. Most of the separate processes are carried out in the dental laboratories - each step subject to geometric error. This paper presents a new methodology based on a miniature mechanical probe, CAD/CAM technology and milling of the final restoration. The advantage of this new technology is its accuracy, speed and the ability to revolutionize dental restoration methodologies.
