title = "Customized laser modes using a phase-grating and mode selecting mirror",
abstract = "Mode selecting mirrors have been used to establish tailored fundamental modes in lasers. The laser mode profile can be chosen to be any real function by the proper design of mode selecting mirrors. Optimization studies on super-Gaussian mode shapes show that discrimination is maximized when the cavity length is approximately one Rayleigh range of the super-Gaussian. This paper reports on a new cavity design that preserves the high modal discrimination while using a reduced cavity length.",
