Abstract
The use of geographic information systems (GIS) to conserve the potential wetlands of Columbian ecosystem is discussed. Scientists have created an extensive GIS using historical maps, moder imagery, GPS, hyperspectral data, video and classification models. The GIS will help them identify and evaluate potential wetland conservation and restoration sites, track exotic and invasive species, and understand the impacts of changed habitats on the salmon population.
