Abstract

It came to our attention that there was a mistake in Fig. 9C and some information missing from the Methods sections. Correcting these errors does not affect the results or the conclusions of the study. The authors apologize for the confusion this may have caused. The details of mistakes and missing information are as below: (1) Fig. 6B is the same as Fig. 9C because both are from the same set of experimental conditions (incubation at 60 °C for 72 h) but it is inserted twice as Fig. 9C. To avoid the reuse of the same image, Fig. 9C is removed and the old Fig. 9D becomes Fig. 9C in the revised figure provided below. The reference text of paper is referred accordingly now as in place of: a. “Moreover, CN also affected the morphology of preformed fibrils (Fig. 9C & D). Fibrils incubated with CN comparatively showed reduce amount of fibrillar mesh (Fig. 9D), which also supports our ThT results” should be “Moreover, CN also affected the morphology of preformed fibrils (compare original fibrils in Fig. 6B with CN-treated fibrils in Fig. 9C). Fibrils incubated with CN comparatively showed reduce amount of fibrillar mesh (Fig. 9C), which also supports our ThT results”b. The legend of Fig. 9 is also changed as in Figure provided below. [Figure presented] Fig. 9. Effect of CN on preformed fibrils. (A) ThT fluorescence spectra of insulin fibrils and fibrils co-incubated with CN of 100 μM for different time intervals. Inset figure shows the time dependent kinetics of insulin fibrils disaggregation (n = 3). (B) Hemolytic assay after being exposed to preformed insulin fibrils incubated with or without 100 μM of CN (n = 3). (C) TEM image of insulin fibrils co-incubated with 100 μM of CN for 48 h.(2) Just to make it more clear about the concentration of insulin used in this study and thus in Section “4.2. Sample preparation” the statement “Fibrils were prepared by incubating insulin solution at 60°C" should be “Fibrils were prepared by incubating insulin solution (20 μM) at 60°C and used as such for all assays except wherein mentioned.”
