N2 - The authors have added this Erratum to provide additional context to the Summit beyond the previously published “Acknowledgements” and “Background” sections. The authors express our deep gratitude to the organizers, speakers, and sponsors of the October 24, 2023 Summit:"Unifying Efforts to Empower Equitable Obesity Care: A Summit of the American College of Physicians and Council of Subspecialty Societies." This collective effort of Summit organizers, keynote experts, and advocates dedicated to advancing equitable obesity care included approximately 75 invited interdisciplinary attendees. The Summit was organized around identifying barriers and developing strategies/recommendations to address gaps in obesity care around physician education, policy and care delivery, and efforts to reduce weight stigma. The call to action at the end of the summit to further raise awareness about obesity equity within our professional societies inspired us to write this manuscript from a General Internal Medicine perspective. We especially acknowledge the leadership of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the ACP Council of Subspecialty Societies for their commitment to addressing health disparities and promoting equitable care for individuals living with obesity across all subspecialties. The Summit received funding support from Abbott, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and Novo Nordisk Inc. Several authors of this manuscript (RMK, JMN, KAG, MRJ) had the privilege of being invited to attend the Summit as representatives of the Society of General Internal Medicine, given their longstanding work in obesity and health equity. The collaborative discussions from the Summit may have influenced the ideas and perspectives presented here. To better reflect this, the last sentence of the Background now reads: “First, we will ground our discussion by defining obesity and then discuss these strategies that stemmed from discussions during and after the “Unifying Efforts to Empower Equitable Obesity Care: A Summit of the American College of Physicians and Council of Subspecialty Societies” held on October 24, 2023 (see citation for Summit proceedings).” We are deeply grateful for the collaborative environment fostered by ACP through efforts such as this Summit and their continued work to promote equity in obesity care through publications in the Annals of Internal Medicine and partnership building. For more information about the Summit, please see the full Summit proceedings in the Annals of Internal Medicine. [reference added in Erratum—Wee CC, Arbaje AI, Bering H, et al.
