Abstract

Correction on: Theelen, B., Cafarchia, C., Gaitanis, G., Bassukas, I.D., Boekhout, T. (2018). Malassezia ecology, pathophysiology, and treatment. Med. Mycol. 56, S10-S25. Page S15, left column (second paragraph of “Presence in other human body sites”): The authors of “Malassezia ecology, pathophysiology, and treatment” thank the critical reading and feedback of one of the readers of our review. We regret the presence of an incorrect statement, based on our review of Wu et al (2015).8 In our MM review we stated that the presence of Malassezia as a prominent commensal in the oral mycobiome as found by Dupuy et al (2014)80 could not be confirmed by re-evaluation with Malassezia genomes as stated in Wu et al (2015).8 We have personally re-analyzed the data presented by Dupuy et al (2014)80 and confirm the presence of Malassezia ITS1 reads.
