Abstract
Work on the development of controlled drug delivery focuses on three systems: nonerodible polymers, which can release macromolecules such as peptides; bioerodible polymers, which display surface erosion; and magnetically and ultrasonically controlled polymer systems capable of providing increased release rates when desired due to the application of an external magnetic or ultrasonic field. The authors summarize their ongoing research.
