Abstract

A technique that correlates database items to a task adds content independent context to a recommender system based solely on user interest ratings. A task-focused approach to recommendation that is entirely independent of the type of content involved is presented. The approach leverages robust, high-performance, commercial software. In particular, such an approach is implemented in a live movie recommendation site and validated with empirical results from user studies.
