Abstract
Allergic contact dermatitis can result from occasional or incidental contact with glutaraldehyde used for sterilization of medical and dental equipment, as well as from topical application of the compound in dermatologic treatment. The patients described had positive patch tests to glutaraldehyde and glutaraldehyde-tanned leather. It remains to be shown whether glutaraldehyde in leather can induce sensitization.
