Abstract

This chapter explores the benefits to children’s health and well-being of adopting a human rights approach to pediatric healthcare, which implies giving children a voice to participate in decisions that impact their health and well-being, providing affordable access to quality care, putting more emphasis on mental health, and investing in social, economic, and environmental resources that shape health. It also examines the role of pediatric health professionals in leveraging the concept of human dignity to advance children’s health and provides a charge for future directions regarding a human rights approach to children’s healthcare.
