Abstract

Abstract. A method using 1‐MDS electropositive filters for the concentration of Aeromonas salmonicida from hatchery water was developed. The procedure consisted of passing hatchery water at ambient pH through the filters followed by the elution of the adsorbed bacteria in a small volume of 3% beef extract solution (pH 10.0). A 300‐fold reduction in volume of hatchery water and an average recovery of 35% of the seeded bacteria was achieved.
