Abstract

Computed tomography (CT) is a medical imaging modality that has found a range of clinical and research applications related to foot and ankle biomechanics. Data from a CT scan can provide detailed information about the anatomy of the foot and ankle in health and disease, particularly in relation to bone. This makes CT an essential technology for tasks such as fracture assessment, study of bone morphology, and computation model development. In this chapter, we give an overview of the technology and its development, review its applications in the context of foot and ankle biomechanics, and propose future areas of research.
