Abstract

Historians of electronic computing have paid little attention to the notion of place when it refers to countries and regions other than the US and Europe. This Think Piece article explores how research on the history of computing in Taiwan can contribute to the field of the history of Cold War computing. It illustrates that the Cold War, as a historical context of the emergence of electronic computing, had its specific facets in specific places.
