COIL DIMENSIONS OF POLYSTYRENES IN ISOREFRACTIVE VISCOUS SOLVENTS BY SMALL-ANGLE NEUTRON SCATTERING.

Abstract

Techniques developed to investigate the conformational dynamics of polymers in solution, such as the linear viscoelastic and oscillatory flow birefringence experiments, have provided sensitive tests for molecular theories both at infinite dilution and at finite concentration left bracket 1-3 right bracket . However, the molecular significance of parameter values selected to obtain close agreement between theory and experiment remains to be established. The development of small-angle neutron scattering and forced Rayleigh scattering provides a means to measure the radii of gyration of deuterated polystyrenes and the diffusion coefficients of dye-labelled polystyrenes.
