Abstract

Home monitoring by the chronically ill, e. g. , diabetic or MESOR-hypertensive patients, usually involves variables characterized by partly predictable aspects. Among these, rhythms, i. e. , algorithmically formulated recurrent changes validated by inferential statistical means, are revealed in properly analyzed data by the chronobiology, the study of biologic time structure in health and disease. Chronobiology hardware and software are pertinent and cost-effective in use by chronically ill and also by healthy subjects for the prevention of major diseases. Blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) monitoring at home by means of automatic noninvasive instrumentation has yielded invaluable information for diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
