Abstract

This production of new blood components by cellular engineering continues to build on the past generations of blood components, providing even more ways to treat diseases. Development and refinement of these new blood components are needed to establish their therapeutic use for treatment of inherited and malignant disease. With these refinements, regulations are increasingly needed to ensure safety and secure evidence of their clinical efficacy. The future for development, production, and clinical use of these new cellular blood components is remarkable and exciting.
