Abstract
A four year study commenced in August 1996 with the 3 main objectives of surveying and identifying New Zealand sapstaining organisms, investigating the cause(s) of sapstain in New Zealand, and to develop an albino fungal product to control sapstain. This paper describes results from the first 18 months of the study including details of the survey and preliminary positive biocontrol results against sapstain in New Zealand.
