Abstract

In order to find a feasible way for brewery wastewater utilization, free Spirulina and a fungi-Spirulina symbiosis system were developed for brewery wastewater treatment. Wastewater purification effect and Spirulina growth were investigated in two wastewater treatment systems, respectively. It showed that fungi-Spirulina symbiosis system had a better wastewater treatment effect through the comparison of two groups of experiments. The removal efficiency of free Spirulina on total nitrogen, total phosphorus and COD were 70.17%, 37.99% and 70.59%, and the fungi-Spirulina symbiosis system, 84.28%, 50.88% and 77.81%, respectively. Spirulina grow in wastewater accumulated more protein than in Zarrouk medium, the protein content can reach up to 49.71% of dry biomass. The results show that free Spirulina and fungi-Spirulina symbiosis system both have good purification effect of brewery wastewater and the Spirulina biomass can be used for feed processing, bait and extracting pigments after purification.
