Abstract

Based on a sample of 227Ã-106 BBÂ pairs collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC, we measure the branching fraction B(B0â†'Ï€0Ï€0)=(1. 17Â±0.32Â±0.10)Ã-10-6, and the asymmetry CÏ€0Ï€0=-0.12Â±0.56Â±0.06. The B0â†'Ï€0Ï€0 signal has a significance of 5.0Ï. We also measure B(B+â†'Ï€+Ï€0)=(5. 8Â±0.6Â±0.4)Ã-10-6, B(B+â†'K+Ï €0)=(12.0Â±0.7Â±0.6)Ã-10-6, and the charge asymmetries AÏ€+Ï€0=-0.01Â±0. 10Â±0.02 and AK+Ï€0=0.06Â±0. 06Â±0.01. Using isospin relations, we find an upper bound on the angle difference |Î±-Î±eff| of 35Â° at the 90% C.L.
