Abstract

The border ditch surface irrigation method, which is labour intensive and requires experience gained from trial and error experimentation, was evaluated in Colorado to reveal application efficiencies ranging from 25 to 45 per cent and requirement efficiencies from 90 to 100 per cent. The evaluation also concluded that border ditch fields, which are designed to have cross slopes, have poor irrigation uniformity as a direct consequence of the slopes. (P.M.T.)
