Abstract
For decades, researchers have shown that pedagogies that draw upon the resources students bring with them to the classroom are more effective than those that treat students as if they are deficient. In this chapter, the asset-based approach that undergirds these highly effective pedagogical strategies is integrated into the extensible model for personalization. Specifically, the range of student strengths that could serve as assets in personalization is discussed.
