Abstract
The report presents findings from a contract that assessed the impact of the first three classes graduated by the Utah Medex program on the practices of their preceptors. Economic and services impacts were measured, using several existing data sources, e.g., income tax records of physicians and insurance records of major carriers in three states (Utah, Colorado, and Idaho). Direct observation and data reporting forms were also used. Findings suggest that the Medex does have a noticeable effect on the delivery of health care services, particularly in the area of added services.
