Abstract

Assembly analysis of a multiple co-linear hinges jamb-slab system is studied in this paper. An analysis model is developed, in which both of the positioning errors of the pins on the jamb and the positioning errors of the cylinders on the slab are considered. The successful assembly condition is presented when the pins and cylinders are all in possible orientations. Simulations are carried out based on the models and the Monte Carlo method which can predict the successful assembly probability effectively. The work presented here is important both for research and practice in the door and window industries.
